Griswold 2160K Normally-Open 1-1/2 in RCV Solenoid Valve
The Griswold 2160K is a heavy-duty, normally-open RCV solenoid valve engineered for irrigation and commercial water control. Built with a cast iron body and bronze internal components, the 2160K delivers dependable on/off control while minimizing maintenance. Its slow-closing diaphragm design prevents water hammer and chatter, and the valve is fully serviceable without removing the body from the system.
- Size & Connections: 1-1/2 in FIPT (model 2160K); NPT standard (BSPT optional).
- Materials: Cast iron body with bronze trim and stainless-steel guided diaphragm-disc assembly.
- Electrical: 22-28 VAC operating range; low current: 0.40 A at 24 VAC for efficient coil operation.
- Pressure & Flow: Rated 2–200 PSI operating pressure. Straight pattern Cv: 26.00; Angle pattern Cv: 29.00 (see spec sheet for flow/pressure loss table).
- Dimensions & Weight (nominal): A=6.00 in, B=3.00 in, C=5.50 in, D=5.50 in; approx. ship wt 12.25 lbs.
- Serviceability & Options: Watertight epoxy-molded solenoid coil, slow closing for surge protection, optional purple handle for reclaimed water (add “R”), optional epoxy coating (add “E”).
The 2160 series is self-cleaning and designed to tolerate silt and debris found in irrigation and reclaimed water applications. Use the 2160K as a normally-open master valve or where reliable, slow actuation is required. For sizing and expected pressure loss at specific flow rates consult the Griswold 2160 specification sheet (Form F-2667). Install with compatible rated fittings and a protected control transformer sized for the valve coil; perform periodic diaphragm and coil inspections to maintain long service life.
